Our very first reveal for our November Box is Bloomtown. When we first started searching for partners to collaborate with in our inaugural box, we were immediately drawn by their focus towards rainforest conservation. And it doesn't hurt that their sugar scrubs are such an indulgence.
Bloomtown was founded in 2016 by Preyanka Clark Prakash and Medwin Culmer, after spending two years in Indonesia. Witnessing the devastating effects of the loss of virgin forests first-hand, especially to the endangered orangutans, tigers and so much of the world’s biodiversity that calls these forests home, they were motivated to embark on a mission to create a 100% palm oil-free body and skincare company to offer concerned consumers with true ethical and cruelty-free alternatives. It was this mission that is the very foundation of Bloomtown.
In a short span of 2 years, Preyanka and Medwin’s expertly formulated and lovingly hand-crafted (right in their workshop in Cornwall) products has won Bloomtown critical acclaim in the skincare, beauty and ethical industries locally and internationally. Sticking to their mission, their products are created from scratch without parabens, sulphates, SLSs or other nasties!
We managed to ask Preyanka and Medwin a few questions about being an entrepreneur in England.
What are some of your highlights since starting your business?
One of the highlights of our journey was winning Best FreeFrom Skincare Brand Gold ahead of industry giants, such as Neal’s Yard Remedies, which gave us such a boost of energy and confidence! We were also really proud to receive full palm oil-free certification from the Orangutan Alliance, making us the UK’s first independently certified palm oil-free company.
If you were to describe your brand in one sentence, what would it be?
‘Truly eco-friendly bath, body & skincare’.
What are your hopes for your business in the future?
We’re excited about bringing our fun, fresh and ethical range to a wider national and international audience as well as working more closely with the charities that are close to our hearts. Since our launch 2.5 years ago, we have donated over £1500 to environmental and animal rescue charities, such as The Orangutan Project, and this is something we’d like to continue and develop.
What do you appreciate the most about being an entrepreneur in the UK?
There is a powerful eco movement sweeping the country, and we absolutely love being a part of it. UK’s consumers care high quality products that don’t cost the earth!
Bloomtown is also passionate about making a difference and giving back, and proudly donate 10% of their profits to environmental and social causes. Thank you Bloomtown for sharing your story with us!
